Shiny Monkey

A Shiny Monkey for Every Woman

Monkeyshine was founded in 2002 when Elaine MacLeod decided to take her love of interesting and different costume accessories to a new level. Elaine enjoys producing hand worked pieces of jewellery to adorn and embellish the fun loving.  Working with a different themed “series” and specializing in items that are statement orientated and often ‘one-offs’, Monkeyshine offers imaginative, bold and fascinating jewellery.

Elaine believes that jewellery can allow the wearer to change personality and different facets of our unique individuality can be shown by accessorizing in diverse ways. Elaine loves crafting pieces that appeal to and draw out our artistic temperaments, but at the same time, can be enjoyed as part of our everyday world.

Choosing her stones from many exotic parts of the world, Elaine often focuses on semi-precious stones for many of her pieces. She also uses tumbled recycled glass and different resins or woods.  She loves to include re-invented jewellery from bygone days and mix them up with leathers, wire, chain, fabrics, laces, charms and trinkets.  The result is deliciously different.

Now Elaine is in the spotlight again when she displays her talents at the 2006 Everywoman Expo. Monkeyshine is part of the designedge fashion incubator located at the Belmont Forum Shopping Centre and the incubator has its own section at the expo.

The Designedge fashion incubator is a creative retail outlet that showcases the talents of local fashion designers. The largest community incubator of it’s kind in Australia the outlet not only gives local fashion designers a chance to display their work but it gives interested parties the chance to make an appointment and meet the designer in person.
