Fashion at a minniMon

Fashion is an art form, and Eva Asmussen is the artist.

Through Eva’s label, minniMon, ultra modern pieces that are heavily influenced by ideas behind the notion of art and fashion are created. minniMon’s current range plays on the relationship that exists between these ideas. minniMon’s first commercial range is made up of t-shirts, singlets, skirts, bags and belts which focus on tactile prints combined with embroidery and unique silhouettes.

Currently Eva’s interest lies in creating garments which are innovative in design and presentation. This concept is an obvious conclusion when considering the nature of Eva’s fashion background. Eva began her studies at Curitn University of Technology where she completed a degree in Textile design and then quickly moved on to study Clothing  Production at Bentley Tafe where she developed a strong grasp on garment construction, and has since been unstoppable in her love of clothing design.

Eva’s designs were chosen to be paraded at the Artrage opening party at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art in 1999 as part of the Festival of Perth. Her designs were also exhibited at the Belmont City of Opportunity Channel Ten Fashion Spectacular at the Perth Royal Show in 2001 and the Mundaring Arts Centre.

Eva was selected as a finalist in the Smales Perth Fashion Festival 2001 Design Awards in evening wear category and similarly in the Royal Agricultural Brand Design Awards. Eva’s work was also published in X-Press street magazine as part of a student fashion shoot (Aug 98, issue 600) and in Australian Style (October 2001 edition) as part of the Noise Festival.

minniMon will be showcasing this range at Fashion Exposed, Australia's largest all encompassing business event for the Fashion Industry being held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Melbourne from September 12th to 14th.

The event gives labels from around the world the chance to promote their Autumn/Winter 2005 range to more than 8000 trade fair visitors. Amongst these visitors are independent retailers, chain stores and department stores all interested in discovering new designs and smart ideas in fashion. Buyers will be impressed with the broadest range of Autumn/Winter apparel on show from over 400 Australian wholesalers and designers.

minniMon will be located at the Australian Designer Showcase Exhibition Stand U02 at Fashion Exposed, trade exhibition in Melbourne and will also be available for private showings or appointments.

The Australian Designer Showcase is a project of the TCF Resource Centre of Western Australia, Belmont BEC and is supported by Fashion Exposed Trade Exhibition and Designedge – TCF Australia Uncovered.
